Elementary clock

Elementary clock is the generic term for clocks that measure time using the elements or astronomically . These include hourglasses , water clocks , fire clocks as well as sundials , star clocks and the astrolabe .

The term is differentiated from mechanical wheel clocks and fully electronic digital quartz clocks that no longer have any mechanical parts.
