Elena Andreicheva

Elena Andreicheva (* in Kiev ) is a British-Ukrainian documentary filmmaker . She was awarded an Oscar in 2020 .

Life

Elena Andreicheva is from Ukraine but lives and works in Great Britain . She first studied physics before completing a master’s degree in science journalism .

In 2016 she made the short film Polish Go Home , which was shown at the Aesthetica Film Festival and the London Short Film Festival, among others. The film was also shown at the Polish International Film Festival.

For the Oscars 2020 Elena Andreicheva was with Carol Dysinger for Learning to skateboard in a Warzone (If You're a Girl) for the Oscar nominated for best short documentary and excellent. The film was also nominated for Best British Short Film at the BAFTA Awards .
