Elend is a band founded in France in 1993, the founding members of which are the French Iskandar Hasnawi and the Austrian Renaud Tschirner. Their style can be assigned to the neoclassical , whereby dark ambient influences can also be recognized.

So far they have released two cycles and a stand-alone album. Like the first cycle, Officium Tenebrarum , the second, Winds Cycle , is a trilogy . The 3rd part of the Winds Cycle was released in May 2007 on Holy Records in France and on Prophecy Productions in the rest of Europe. The texts use different languages. The lyrics on the albums of the Officium Tenebrarum cycle are Latin , Greek , English , Hebrew and French .
