Elisabeth Magel

Elisabeth Magel (* before 1977) is a German botanist , chemist and professor for wood biology at the University of Hamburg .

Life

Magel studied chemistry and biology at the Technical University of Munich from 1977 to 1983 . 1986 followed the doctorate to Dr. rer. nat. In the following years she worked as a postdoc at the Department of Botany at the Technical University of Munich under Hubert Ziegler . After moving to the University of Tübingen, Magel worked as a research assistant at the Chair for Physiological Ecology of Plants until 2000 . In 2000 habilitated they and received the venia legendi for the subjects Botany and Plant Physiology . After her habilitation, she worked as a senior scientific assistant at the University of Tübingen until 2003 . In 2003 she followed the call to the University of Hamburg and since then has held the chair for wood biology at the Center for Wood Management .

Research and Teaching

Elisabeth Magel's teaching activities focus on climate change, especially the influence of drought stress on the defense against pathogens , as well as novel diseases on urban trees. Furthermore molecular biology and biochemistry , especially molecular characterization of discoloration reactions and molecular wood species identification.
