Ellen Auerbach scholarship

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ellen Auerbach Scholarship is a promotional art award for young international photographers that is awarded every two years by the Berlin Academy of the Arts . The prize money of 20,000 euros comes from the estate of the namesake Ellen Auerbach , who was a famous photographer and agency owner.

Structures

In the aftermath of the academy exhibition “The Photographer Ellen Auerbach” (1998), Ellen Auerbach herself donated the scholarship named after her. This international art prize for young photographers was awarded for the first time in 2006 in Ellen Auerbach's 100th birthday.

No separate application is permitted for the scholarship. The respective award winners are recommended by academy members, experts or international curators and finally selected by a member jury.

Furthermore, it is stipulated that half of the prize money should be used for a Berlin exhibition of the award-winning works and the simultaneous publication of a corresponding catalog booklet .
