Bobby Astyr

Bobby Astyr (born November 14, 1937 in New York; died April 7, 2002 in Manhattan, New York; actually Robert H. Charles ) was an American porn actor .

Life

Bobby Astyr started his career in porn in 1974, in the so-called golden era of the film genre. Before that he was a musician. He starred in more than 140 porn films of the 1970s and 1980s, the best known of which is probably the Dracula film Dracula Exotica and the 1982 film Roommates , both of which are considered classics of the genre. His nickname was "The Clown Prince of Porn" because he was often cast in more comedic roles. He was known for imitating foreign accents and playing crazy characters. Astyr often worked with directors Henri Pachard and Stuart Allen .

Bobby Astyr later served on the board of a housing project in the East Village .

In 1999 he was inducted into the XRCO Hall of Fame . In 1979 he received an AFAA Award for Best Supporting Actor in People .

Private life and death

Astyr was of Jewish faith. He was seen in the porn industry as someone who was altruistic and helped other actors. Since the 1970s he was in a relationship with Samantha Fox , with whom he worked frequently. Bobby Astyr passed away in 2002 after a long battle with lung cancer .
