Ellen Hollond
Ellen Julia Hollond (* 1822 in Madras as Ellen Julia Teed ; † November 29, 1884 in Stanmore , Middlesex ) was an English author and philanthropist.
Life
She was born in India to Thomas Teed's daughter. In 1888 she married the Whig politician Robert Hollond . In Paris she met many intellectuals such as Odilon Barrot , Montalembert , Charles de Rémusat , François Mignet , Henri Martin , Laboulaye , Joseph d'Haussonville , Pierre Lanfrey and Lucien-Anatole Prévost-Paradol . She founded a kindergarten in London and an infirmary in Paris and Nice .
Ary Scheffer used her head as a model for his picture St. Monika with St. Augustine .
