Elmar Helten

Elmar Helten (* 1939 in Cologne ) is President of the Bavarian Financial Center Association and professor emeritus (Full Professor) of the Faculty of Business Administration at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich (LMU).

biography

Elmar Helten studied mathematics , physics , economics and law at the Universities of Cologne and Bonn . In 1965 he completed his studies with a diploma in mathematics. His doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. on the topic of "To calculate economic cybernetics" took place in 1967 at the University of Cologne with Adolf Adam . In 1973 Helten completed his habilitation in insurance science and statistics at the University of Cologne and in the same year took over the chair for general business administration and insurance management at the University of Mannheim . From 1987 to 2005 he held the chair for business administration, in particular insurance management, and director of the Institute for Risk Research and Insurance (INRIVER) at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich.

Helten is a member of the supervisory board and has other mandates in the insurance and IT industries.
