Ely Valley Extension Railway

The Ely Valley Extension Railway was a British railway company based in Glamorganshire in south Wales .

The company was founded on July 28, 1863 to operate the 2140-mm broad-gauge line opened on January 8, 1862 between Gelli'r hiadd and Gilfach Goch . The operations were carried out by the Great Western Railway . In Gelli'r hiadd there was a transition to the Ely Valley Railway . Passenger traffic began on October 16, 1865 on the route.

On July 5, 1865, the company merged to form Ogmore Valley Railways . Passenger traffic ceased on September 22, 1930 and freight traffic on June 5, 1961.
