Ely and Clydach Valleys Railway

The Ely and Clydach Valleys Railway was a British railway company based in Glamorganshire in south Wales .

The company was founded on August 5, 1873. The company's six-kilometer railway ran from Penygraig to Blaen Clydach . The Cambrian Colliery coal mine was connected in Blaen Clydach. In Penygraig there was a transition to the Ely Valley Railway . The line was opened on August 10, 1878.

On July 13, 1876, the Great Western Railway took over the majority of the shares and on August 6, 1880, the Ely and Clydach Valleys Railway was integrated into the GWR. On April 3, 1967, the route was shut down as part of the Beeching ax .
