The embedded world is a trade fair for embedded systems that has been held annually in Nuremberg since 2003. Two multi-day specialist congresses will be held parallel to the trade fair.

The fair is aimed at international manufacturers and service providers of embedded software and hardware and is internationally regarded as the leading fair in this field. In 2019 the trade fair recorded more than 1,117 exhibitors, which occupied an exhibitor stand area of ​​28,820 square meters. The number of visitors amounted to around 31,000 from 84 countries.

The central theme of the trade fair is on the one hand the entire spectrum of embedded systems: from components, modules and complete systems to operating systems and software, hardware and software tools to services related to embedded systems. On the other hand, the Internet of Things as well as M2M , networking, Industry 4.0 , SoC systems and SBCs are the focus of the event. Other thematic focuses are the security of electronic systems, distributed intelligence and solutions for e-mobility and energy efficiency .

For the first time, embedded world 2016 offered a special area called “safety & security area” for the topics of safety and security . Other special areas were the M2M area for wired M2M applications such as remote maintenance, tracking and tracing , e-payment, e-mobility, facility management and M2M for mechanical and plant engineering as well as the electronic displays area for display technologies such as LCD, OLED , PDP, LED or ePaper . Since 2019 there has also been the start-up area, where young companies can present themselves as part of the trade fair.

At the same time as the trade fair, two conferences will take place in the Nuremberg Convention Center: the embedded world conference and the electronic displays conference, which specializes in display technology. In 2019, the conferences recorded a total of 1,991 participants from 46 countries.

At the panel discussion "Safe for the future", which took place for the fourth time in 2019, the central topic is the protection of networked, embedded systems in the Internet of Things. At the second edition of the "Safe for the Future" forum, security experts from business and science will discuss the protection of critical infrastructures. At the first event in 2016, the founder Yevgeny Kaspersky , who also gave the keynote at the fair, spoke .

The panel discussion “Embedded Vision - the 'Next Big Thing'?” Celebrated its premiere in 2017. Well-known representatives from the classic image processing and embedded community discussed current developments, opportunities and challenges in embedded vision with users.

The embedded AWARD ceremony is also part of the supporting program. There, in the categories software, hardware, tools, embedded vision and start-ups, particularly innovative products from exhibitors at embedded world are honored. For several years now, the so-called “Student Day” has been taking place on the last day of the fair, for which students from relevant subjects from all over Europe are driven to Nuremberg in specially chartered buses to attend a fair and recruiting event tailored to their needs. More than 1,000 courses from Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic relevant to embedded programs regularly attend the “Student Day” at the trade fair to get to know potential employers.
