history

His previous areas of responsibility for the development, standardization and regulation of tourism in Brazil are now in the Department of the National Secretariat for Politics and Tourism, also located in the Ministry of Tourism.

All activities of the Embratur are based on the Plano Aquarela - International Tourism Marketing. This marketing plan from 2005 defines preferred markets and corresponding marketing strategies taking into account various criteria, including: number of tourists per year, expected income, entry options by air, sea or land, growth opportunities, cultural inclinations.

In each of these priority countries, Embratur works closely with tour operators and travel agents who offer a variety of travel packages. In addition, constant contact with the press is maintained, public relations work is supported and the holding of international events in Brazil is promoted.

The main focus in promoting Brazilian tourism abroad is on the diversity of the country's culture and nature. All measures are divided into five main segments: sun and beach; Culture; Sports; Ecotourism and adventure; Business and Events.

The goals of the Embratur are: more tourists who stay longer in Brazil, visit more cities and spend more money during their stay - and thus contribute to the economic, social and regional development of the country.

The current Embratur logo was designed by Roberto Burle Marx .
