Emil Andreev (also written Emil Andreew , Bulgarian Емил Андреев ; born September 1, 1956 in Lom , Bulgaria ) is a Bulgarian writer .

Live and act

After studying English and a postgraduate degree in journalism, he worked as a high school teacher, editor for various newspapers, translator and English lecturer at the theological faculty of Sofia University. Since 2001 he has been working as a freelance writer and dramaturge .

His novel The Glass River is one of the best-selling books in Bulgaria. The film of the same name was presented to the general public in 2010 as part of the 14th Sofia International Film Festival. The successful director Stanimir Trifonov hired some of the most famous Bulgarian actors for the film. The novel The Glass River was translated into Romanian.

Emil Andreev's texts have been translated into English, Polish, Romanian, Serbian and Slovak.

His plays have been performed in various theaters in Bulgaria, including the Theater of Satire in Sofia.

Emil Andreev is married and has two children. He lives in Sofia, but spends most of the year in his 100-year-old farmhouse in the mountains near Sofia, where he finds the peace and quiet to write.
