Emma Bachem

Emma Bachem born Geller (born November 26, 1870 in Aachen , † November 25, 1929 in Königswinter ) was a German politician of the Center Party .

Life

She was brought up in a Catholic boarding school for girls in the Netherlands. She did not have a job. She was married to Anselm Bachem. She was involved in Catholic and non-Catholic associations and was chairwoman of the Elisabeth Association in Königswinter and chairwoman of the Fatherland Women's Association for both Königswinter and the Rhine Province . She had no connection to the Catholic women's movement. Since 1907 she was a member of the poor administration in Königswinter. From 1919 she was a member of the district assembly for the Center Party and from 1922 to 1929 a member of the Prussian state assembly . She represented constituency 20 Cologne-Aachen. In doing so, she benefited from a quota system implemented in this area for women when drawing up the list of candidates and moved up to parliament in 1922.
