The Emporis GmbH is a founded in 1996, information services company for international real estate industry. It is headquartered in Hamburg .
history
In 2000, the Emporis website was founded under the name Skyscrapers.com with the aim of collecting information only on skyscrapers and high-rise buildings. In 2003 Emporis expanded its database to include all types of buildings.
Emporis collects, analyzes and evaluates data from buildings. The most important product is the Emporis Research database , which, according to the publisher, contains building-related information from around 600,000 buildings in 26,000 cities with around 650,000 images worldwide. This makes it the world's most comprehensive public resource for building information. The full range of functions is only available to registered customers.
The founder of Emporis, Michael Wutzke, left the company in September 2010 at his own request.
Architecture award
Every year Emporis awards the Emporis Skyscraper Award to the best new high-rise in terms of design and functionality. Only buildings that are over 100 meters high are nominated.
