Encyclopedia Gdańska

The Encyklopedia Gdańska (German Danziger Enzyklopädie ) is a reference work on the history and geography of the city of Gdansk .

It was published in 2012 under the direction of Prof. Dr. Błażej Śliwiński , who teaches history at the University of Gdansk . Over 220 authors wrote articles on 1,176 pages with over 1,600 illustrations. The publisher was Fundacja Gdańska. Since the appearance was supported by state and municipal institutions, the sales price could be kept low.

The encyclopedia is the first reference work of its kind on the history of Gdańsk. It combines the results of German regional historical research with more recent findings from Polish scientists.

The texts are reproduced in the Gedanopedia Internet version , with numerous color and black and white images.
