The University of Gdansk (Polish: Uniwersytet Gdański ) is a university founded in Gdansk in 1970 . It emerged, following a decision by the Council of Ministers , from the merger of the Business School in Sopot (founded in 1945 as a Maritime Business School) and the Pedagogical University of Gdansk (founded in 1946).

In the 2003/2004 academic year it had 33,000 students, spread over 26 courses and 106 additional programs.
