The Maria Curie-Sklodowska University ( Polish Uniwersytet Marii Curie Skłodowskiej w Lublinie , UMCS ) in Polish Lublin was founded on October 23, 1944th It is named after Marie Curie , a two-time Nobel Prize winner and Polish native . The founding members included Ludwik Hirszfeld and Joseph Parnas.

The university currently has around 36,000 students and 302 professorships. In order to meet the increasing demand for higher education, the Marie Curie University has opened branches in other cities in recent years, for example in Biała Podlaska , Biłgoraj , Radom , Kazimierz Dolny and Rzeszów .
