Endobronchial ultrasound

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Endobronchial ultrasound ( EBUS ) is a method in medicine. As a combination of bronchoscopy and sonography, it is possible to display structures adjacent to the bronchial wall, especially lymph nodes , mostly in the B-image and to puncture them in one step with a fine needle in order to obtain tissue for histological examination. The puncture is known as TBNA, transbronchial needle aspiration. The method is thus used, for example, in the diagnosis of lung carcinoma , lymphoma or other unclear lymphadenopathies , such as those found in e.g. B. can occur in sarcoid .
