Final rhyme
As Endsilbenreim is known in the Verslehre a form of Reims , in contrast to ordinary rhyme in which a phonetic match exists from the last stressed syllable (in the root syllable rhyme ) matches, only in the last (unstressed) syllable.
Nû denchent, wîb unde one ,
was ir sulint werdan. | Translation = Now think, woman and man,
what should become of you.

If there are two unstressed syllables ( sounding cadence ) at the end of the message, the final syllable rhyme can refer to both. If the preceding consonant also matches, one speaks of a supported final syllable rhyme . Examples: zi ti - no ti ; Ha gene - de gene ( Song of the Nibelungs ).
The Althochdeutsche still knew full Endsilbenvokale (eg bena "legs" or bluoda "blood"), a rhyme unstressed or nebentoniger final syllables was therefore fully satisfying, after attenuation of Endsilbenvokale to Schwa ( [ ə ] ) in the early Middle High German was, however, no longer felt sufficiently, the final syllable rhyme is therefore rare. Vowels that have not been weakened at the end of the line will continue to rhyme:
