Ensoniq was a US company headquartered in Malvern , Pennsylvania , which was market leader in hardware samplers and synthesizers for many years . It was founded in 1982 by Robert "Bob" Yannes (developer of the MOS Technology SID chip that was used in the Commodore 64 home computer) and other former employees of MOS Technology.

In 1997, Ensoniq was bought by Creative Technology for $ 77 million.
