The magazine Envâr-ı Zekâ ( Ottoman انوار ذكا İA Envâr-ı Zekâ , German 'Lights of Intelligence or Lights of Mind' ) was published between 1883 and 1885 (in the original 1299 to 1302) in the Ebüzziya printing house by the writer Mustafa Reşid . A total of 34 issues were published. The magazine defines itself as a "bi-weekly magazine that covers everything but politics".
According to the publisher, the magazine was published every fifteen days, although the exact publication dates of the issues remain uncertain.
Envar-i Zeka is one of the magazines that has witnessed the literary activities of the artists of the Nesil Ara. It contains the works of Tanzimat artists and has a large staff of authors. In addition, it occupies an important place in Turkish literature with its translation activities . In addition to literary, philosophical and scientific translations from German, French and English, one of the special features is that some of the first examples of prose poetry and poetry can be found in Turkish literature after the Tanzimat period.
