Equity Office Properties Trust ( NYSE : EOP) was the largest US publicly traded office property company headquartered in Chicago . The company was listed in the S&P 500 share index. Equity Office Properties Trust owned and managed approximately 590 properties in the United States, mostly office buildings in metropolitan areas.
The private equity group Blackstone took EOP in February 2007 at a price of 39 billion USD . This was the largest company takeover by a financial investor to date.
