Erasmus Reinhold as namesake

Students, teachers and parents were of the opinion that the school should be given a name that reflects its scientific profile. Previously the school was only identified by the number II. Numerous famous people were up for discussion. After a few efforts, it was agreed to name the school after the two hall fields Erasmus Reinhold . They were not limited to either the older or the younger, because both embodied valuable human qualities. It is known from father and son that they also worked successfully outside of Thuringia and then returned to Saalfeld.

history

The school building was built in 1977. Before that, it housed the “Julius Fucik” polytechnic , where students from grades one to ten were taught. The State Gymnasium II was only founded in 1991. The development of the grammar school can be traced back to two cornerstones. On the one hand, it was an idea of the round table in Saalfeld, which set itself the task of renewing the school system in the Saalfeld area. The proposal was to set up a total of two grammar schools, one of which should be musically and linguistically and the other mathematically and scientifically oriented. The second important step was the grassroots decision by the teaching staff of the Julius Fucik Oberschule to expand the school into a grammar school. All redesigns were funded, among others, by the school administration director at the time, Mrs. Blazejwski. The school opened on September 1, 1991. A total of 517 students and 38 teachers came together at the school to pursue everyday learning and teaching from now on. On December 7th, 1993 the association was founded. Committed parents are given the opportunity to make their contribution to the continuous development of the school. In many ways they supported the development of the high school financially and organisationally.

For example:

  • Organization of the open day
  • Organization of the alumni meeting
  • Financing teaching materials (computer programs, books, etc.)
  • Support for a large number of Olympics
  • Support for the youth research competition
  • Financing of hiking days and excursions
  • Financial support for the renovation of the facade
  • Materials for physical education
  • Christmas concert / ball
  • Graduation ceremony
