2013 Sichuan earthquake

The 2013 Sichuan earthquake was a strong earthquake in the Chinese province of Sichuan near the city of Ya'an on April 20, 2013. The earthquake had a magnitude of 6.6, the Chinese earthquake services reported a magnitude of 7.0. The intensity of the earthquake was given as VIII, so it caused devastating damage. 217 people died and over 15,000 were injured. It was the strongest quake in this region since the 2008 Sichuan earthquake , killing 80,000 people.
