Erebus Basin

The Erebus Basin is a lake basin in the Antarctic Ross Sea northwest of Ross Island .

It is named after the other geographical objects in the area, which are named after the ship HMS Erebus of the Antarctic expedition (1839–1843) of the British polar explorer James Clark Ross . These include Mount Erebus , Erebus Bay and the Erebus glacier tongue .
