Field hockey

The Kaufland sports roof was inaugurated on May 14, 1994. The sports field of the Erfurt Hockey Club is located in a location that is unique in Germany. It is on the roof of a supermarket in the southeast of Erfurt, in the “Großer Herrenberg” district .

The course is equipped with an artificial turf field , a 400 m running track, a long jump pit and a high jump mat. There is a seat for more than 200 spectators in the stands.

In 2012 the old artificial turf was renewed. The new, blue surface now corresponds to the current standards in hockey.

In addition to hockey, the square is also used for athletics events and is a training location for the Athletic Sport Club Erfurt (ASV Erfurt).

Indoor hockey

Various sports halls in Erfurt are used as training locations during the winter season. Above all, this includes the Thuringia Hall . This is laid out with a parquet flooring.

The point game in Erfurt takes place in the Walter-Gropius-Halle. This is attached to the Walter Gropius School (SBBS 7), a vocational school.

Broad bean tournament

On May 27, 2005, the 1st broad bean tournament was held at the Erfurt Hockey Club. In the first year, the junior tournament for the age groups from Minis to Boys B welcomed 31 teams from all over Germany, as well as a team from Erfurt's twin city Vilnius, Lithuania.

In the following years, the Erfurt broad bean tournament established itself as one of the largest junior tournaments in Central Germany.

Gerhard Herrling memorial tournament

The history of the Gerhard Herrling memorial tournament began at the beginning of 1962, one year after his death, with a tournament in the gym of the Herder School in Erfurt. In honor of Gerhard Herrling, six men's teams competed, including the two clubs in which Gerhard Herrling had his sporting home, the BSG Turbine Erfurt and the SC Motor Jena, which was also the first cup winner. The initiator of this memorial tournament was the longtime head of the hockey section of the BSG Turbine Erfurt, and chairman of the district technical committee for hockey of the district of Erfurt, Klaus - Dieter Ladewig, who himself played together with Gerhard Herrling in Erfurt. The second edition of the tournament took place in the Erfurt Thuringia Hall, for the first time with a tournament for women's teams. In addition to the men, the women of SC Motor Jena were also cup winners. Between 1966 and 1974, and from 1976 to 1979, tournaments were then exclusively for men's teams. At the annual tournaments, teams from all over Germany, as well as international teams with TJ Praga Prague (CSSR), SV Vanagai and Ardas Rudamina Vilnius (Lithuania) and Leicester Westleigh (England), were welcome guests at the traditional Erfurt Gerhard-Herrling memorial tournament.
