Supplementary services

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Supplementary benefits ( EL ) for old-age and survivors' insurance (AHV) or disability insurance (IV) serve to secure a livelihood in the Swiss welfare state if other social security or the income is insufficient. The supplementary benefits, together with old-age and survivors' insurance (AHV) and disability insurance (IV), form the first - state - pillar of the Swiss three- pillar system . The services are organized by the cantons or by charitable organizations. Supplementary benefits have been paid since 1966. Originally they were only intended as a temporary solution. There are two types of benefits that are paid out: on the one hand, annual supplementary benefits and , on the other, the reimbursement of medical, disability and dental treatment costs .
