Erhard Friedrich Leuchs

Erhard Friedrich Leuchs (born August 20, 1800 in Nuremberg ; † October 16, 1837 there ) was a German editor and agricultural writer.

Leuchs attended a secondary and commercial school in his hometown, made several business trips to European countries and in 1820 took over the editing of the Handelszeitung in Nuremberg. From then on, however, his real love was the natural and agricultural sciences. He acquired extensive knowledge through self-study. He wrote several specialist books. When his most important work is considered a 1825 first published Complete fertilizer doctrine ... . In this book, which received great attention in circles of scientific agriculture, he has the knowledge about the effects of all fertilizers known at the timeclearly presented. Due to numerous contradictions, he thought it was premature to set up a general theory of fertilization. Leuchs was a member of the Grand Ducal Baden Agricultural Association.
