Eric Brother

Eric Frère (born June 30, 1964 in Essen ) is a German - French economist and has been a professor at the FOM - University of Economics and Management , headquartered in Essen, since 2001 . He is also dean for business administration and as director of the Institute for Strategic Finance (isf) and owner of Frère Consult management and personnel consultancy.

Life

After training as a bank clerk at Deutsche Bank AG, Eric Frère studied economics and business administration at the Julius Maximilians University in Würzburg and the Albertus Magnus University in Cologne. He then did his doctorate at the Ruhr University Bochum at the Chair of Economic Policy under the then President of the Rhine-Westphalian Institute for Economic Research (RWI) in Essen. After working at u. a. Credit Commercial de France (CCF), Bayer UK and Bankhaus Lampe KG, he has been a management and personnel consultant for corporate finance and asset management for more than twenty years. In these functions, he placed several IPOs in the regulated market and carried out venture capital / private equity financings. At the same time, he works as a business angel, advisory and supervisory board member of various companies, most recently at Arivis AG and Faveo AG and as an advisory board member at Deutsche Bank AG, WEPEX management consultancy or beesmart.city.

At the FOM he has been teaching finance, corporate finance, international entrepreneurship and international finance in particular since 1998. In 2001 he was appointed professor here and in 2012 he received his habilitation at the University of West Hungary in Sopron. At the same time he is director of the isf (Institute for Strategic Finance) and dean of Business Administration II at the FOM. His research focuses on corporate finance, strategic asset allocation, portfolio management and financial compliance. Since 2007, Eric Frère has also been visiting professor at the following universities and colleges: Masaryk University Brno (2007), Pfeiffer University Charlotte USA (2007), Fontys Hogescholen Venlo (2010), West Hungarian University of Sopron (2010), Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (2011), University of Banja Luka (2012), International College of Management Sydney (2014).

Awards

Eric Frère was awarded the research prize for excellent research communication in 2014 and the BCW Foundation Prize NRW for excellent teaching in 2018. In 2016, he also received an honorary doctorate for his sustainable social commitment to students at the University of Banja Luka in Bosnia-Herzegovina .
