Erich Hertel

Erich Hertel (* 1949 in Bad Hersfeld ) is a German clergyman and was bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (DELK) until April 2014 .

Life

Hertel, who comes from Hesse, attended the Hermannsburg missionary seminar and completed a vicariate abroad in Bogotá ( Colombia ). From 1986 to 1995 he led a congregation in Durban , South Africa , after which he was a senior in Pretoria until 2006, responsible for looking after the employees of the Hermannsburg Mission sent to southern Africa.

Hertel was introduced to his office as Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (DELK) on May 28, 2006. In addition to his bishopric, he worked 50 percent of his time in a pastor's position in Windhoek . After retiring, Hertel returned to Germany in May 2014.

Hertel is married and has two children.
