The Erich Kästner Library in Oberschwarzach is a library that manages Erich Kästner's personal estate .

Luiselotte Enderle , Erich Kästner's longtime partner, stated in her will that the entire inventory of the house at Flemingstrasse 52 in Munich , in which she and Kästner had lived, passed into the possession of the Erich Kästner Children's Village after her death and from its sponsoring association Erich Kästner Kinderdorf e. V. "to care for the name Erich Kästner and the mental and physical care of the children" should be used. When Enderle died in 1991, a former mill in Oberschwarzach was rebuilt to accommodate the newly founded Erich Kästner Library.

The library's equipment includes Kästner's furniture, including his desk with his typewriter, personal items such as clothing and glasses, pictures and photographs as well as his entire private library, which contains around 10,000 books, some of which are provided with Kästner's personal notes or dedications from other writers .

The Erich Kästner Library sees itself as a museum and primarily wants to appeal to children.
