Erich Srbek (born June 4, 1908 in Prague , † February 24, 1973 ) was a Czechoslovak football player and coach.

Club career

Srbek played for DFC Prague until 1930 . The midfielder spent most of his career at Sparta Prague . With Sparta, Srbek became Czechoslovak champions in 1932 and 1936, and in 1935 the team won the Mitropa Cup . Overall, Srbek played 282 games for Sparta between 1930 and 1937. In 1938 he moved to Viktoria Žižkov and ended his career in 1939.

In a total of 105 first division games, Srbek scored two goals, both in the 1933/34 season.

Srbek scored a goal in 35 Mitropapokal games for Sparta: In the 2-1 win in the second leg of the replay against Hungária FC on July 11, 1934, the Czech scored the winning goal for Sparta in the 85th minute of the game, which after the 1-2 First leg defeat made a sixth game between the two teams necessary. This game ended 1: 1 in a draw, Sparta reached the quarter-finals by drawing lots, but were eliminated there against SK Admira Vienna .

National team

Srbek made his debut on October 26, 1930 in the 1-1 draw against Hungary in Budapest in the Czechoslovak national team . After it had been used regularly in 1931, it was not taken into account between April 1932 and September 1934. Only after the World Cup in 1934 was Srbek called up more often in the national team. As early as 1936, however, the midfielder completed his last game for Czechoslovakia. On April 26th, the ČSR defeated Spain 1-0 in Prague . Overall, Srbek played 14 times for Czechoslovakia.

Coaching career

Srbek trained from 1948 to 1952 Sparta Prague and led the team to the national championship in 1952. From 1956 to 1958, the former national player was again active as a coach at Sparta.
