Erik Dammann (born May 9, 1931 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian social critic and author . He founded the Framtiden i våre hender movement .

Life

Erik Dammann has worked in the advertising industry since 1955, first as a copywriter, then as a marketing consultant. Since 1964 he was department head at NCK Norge AS . In 1966 he published his first book, two years later a report on a one-year stay with his family in Samoa .

In 1972, The Future in Our Hands appeared , in which he critically examined the Western way of life and its effects on the environment and human coexistence. This book received a lot of attention and discussion in Norway. In 1974 he founded the movement Framtiden i våre hender ( The future in our hands ), which in the following years had over 20,000 members and was able to set up subsidiary organizations in Denmark , Sweden , Great Britain and Sri Lanka . Erik Dammann has worked for the organization since then, published in their magazine and published other books in which he dealt with modern Western society from different perspectives.

In 1982 he founded the Alternative Framtid movement and received the Right Livelihood Award (Alternative Nobel Prize) that year . Since 1988 he has received a state pension.
