Commemorative medal "20 years of working class combat groups"

The commemorative medal “20 years of working class combat groups” was an award of the working class combat groups of the German Democratic Republic, which was donated on the occasion of their 20th anniversary in 1973 and awarded to deserving members of the combat groups. Erich Mielke , in his capacity as Minister for State Security , was honored in September 1973 and was thus one of the first people to be honored.

The silver medal is on their obverse the portrait of a member of task forces in combat uniform, helmet and angled across his chest Kalashnikov . The symbolism is surrounded by the inscription: 20 YEARS OF WORKING CLASS WORKING GROUPS . The reverse of the medal shows the state coat of arms of the GDR, which is surrounded by the inscription: FOR THE PROTECTION OF WORKERS AND FARMERS POWER . This inscription is completed by two open laurel branches that are crossed at the bottom and bent upwards. The medal was worn on the upper left chest of the borrower on a red pentagonal clasp. The associated interim clasp is of the same quality and also shows the 10 mm diameter obverse of the medal, but without inscription.
