Nutritional physiology

Nutritional physiology is a branch of physiology that examines the amount and composition of food and nutrients in the organism so that it is optimally nourished according to age, gender and living conditions.

Its content overlaps with nutritional science and biochemistry . In animal breeding , nutritional-physiological research is intended to optimize animal nutrition, feed and nutritional requirements for farm animals. In medicine, particular attention is paid to metabolic diseases , malnutrition and malnutrition as well as malnutrition caused by illness .

The findings of nutritional physiology are applied in nutritional medicine and dietetics .
