Ernst August Cross

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ernst August Cross was an award in the Kingdom of Hanover .

Donated by King Ernst August on August 9, 1845 , it was intended as an addition to the Wilhelms-Kreuz and should represent the 1st class here. It made sense to honor officers of the Hanoverian army for many years of loyalty and service to receive a new award, in addition to the Wilhelms Cross and the Wilhelms Medal . Fifty years of service was a prerequisite for the honor. The person decorated had to return the Wilhelms-Kreuz that had previously been received.

Order decoration

The order decoration was a gold cross with the letters EAR for Ernst August Rex under a crown on the front and a 50 on the back.

Ribbon

The ribbon was dark red and had a dark blue border on both sides on the edges. The award was worn without a buckle on the left side of the chest. The ribbon could not be worn without a cross.
