The Ernst Bloch Center is an institution supported by the city of Ludwigshafen am Rhein and funded by the Ernst Bloch Center Foundation with a cultural, scientific and educational policy mandate. The Ernst Bloch Center was founded in November 2000 in memory of the German philosopher Ernst Bloch (1885–1977) in his native Ludwigshafen am Rhein. It is located in the historic director's villa of the Walzmühle (Ludwigshafen) .

The center consists of a permanent exhibition that documents the life and central themes of the philosopher Ernst Bloch, as well as an archive with the estate of Bloch. In the future forum of the Ernst Bloch Center, events on specific, utopian issues in society are regularly offered.

In the Ernst Bloch Center, the Ernst Bloch Prize is awarded every three years together with the City of Ludwigshafen .
