The Ernst Bloch Prize is a science and literature prize that is awarded every three years by the Ernst Bloch Center and the city of Ludwigshafen am Rhein . It was donated by the city in 1985 in memory of and in honor of the work of Ernst Bloch and consists of a main prize and a sponsorship prize.

The main prize is intended to honor "outstanding scientific or literary work with a philosophical basic attitude ... which is significant for our culture in critical examination of the present". It is endowed with 10,000 euros (as of 2018).

The sponsorship award is given to promote young authors. A financial contribution of 2500 euros is associated with it (as of 2018).
