History and location
The square has been named after Landgrave Ernst Ludwig (1667–1739) since 1860 . The Ernst-Ludwigs-Platz is mainly characterized by the White Tower and the facade of the Residenzschloss . Located on the western edge of the square sandstone - department store facade from the early 1950s, tries to give an adequate response to the facade of the Royal Palace through the material sandstone. The sheet metal facade of a department store in Patinaton on the southern edge of the square was fitted into the historical ensemble.
