Ernst Schottelius was a German soccer player .

Career

Schottelius, who was spellbound by the hustle and bustle of the 40 to 50 Englishmen aged 16 to 20, the English cadet school, which had opened in Dreisamstrasse in 1889, was in charge of the football team at the grammar school during his school days, which he helped with in 1897 Graduated from high school. He, the initiator who founded the Freiburg FC on December 17th of the same year with 13 classmates , was also the club's first team captain . The love for the new sport made them linger in Freiburg in the first semesters of their university studies before continuing at other universities in the following years.

He took part with the team in the first final round of the South German Championship 1898/99 , which was held by the Association of South German Football Associations . The final reached on January 8, 1899 in Karlsruhe was won 6-1 against 1. FC Pforzheim .

In 1900 he went to Munich with Specht and Schilling, who were planning to continue their studies, and Hermann Geis , and joined the newly founded FC Bayern Munich . This "delegation" is attributed to Gustav Manning , with the intention of "guaranteeing the survival of the new club and allies in the establishment of the association in Bavaria." He, co-founder and active player of the Freiburg FC and its first chairman, became secretary of the association in 1897 South German Football Associations (VSFV) elected, wanted to integrate Munich, which was previously nonexistent on the football map, into the association. For this purpose he had previously sent to Munich with Franz John and Josef Pollack , whom he knew from his time in Pankower and Freiburg, respectively, to advance his efforts. Schottelius was a semester member of FC Bayern Munich, which joined the VSFV in the summer of 1900.

He participated for FC Bayern Munich in the second Bundestag of the DFB on June 2, 1900 in Erfurt.
