Extended chord in C

Extended chord (also: excessive chord ) is a term from the field of music . This chord consists of two major thirds layered on top of each other. Excessive chords, like diminished chords, are very unstable and sound a little crooked on their own. However, if it is only used as a passage chord, one quickly recognizes the raison d'être of the excessive chords.

Examples

In C major , the C major chord "C - E - G" becomes "C - E - G sharp", called "C aug".
