The Escuela Nacional Preparatoria (ENP) was founded on February 1, 1868 on the instructions of the Mexican President and is the "National Preparatory School" for obtaining university entrance qualifications . The ENP is one of the schools of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). The school's motto is “Amor, Orden y Progreso” (English: love, order and progress ).

The general management is located in the former building of the Colegio de San Ildefonso in the historic center ( Centro Histórico ) of Mexico City and has a total of nine branch offices in Mexico City, all named after well-known personalities:

School education

A total of two branches of school are offered. Branch 1, with a university focus and a training period of three years, is only offered in branch 2 "Erasmo Castellanos Quinto". The training to obtain the Bachilleratos at branch 2 also lasts three years and is carried out in all nine branch offices. A distinction is made here between four main training areas: “Physics, mathematics and engineering”, “Biology and health sciences”, “Social sciences” and “Humanities and arts”.

The ENP runs regular student exchange programs, particularly with the United States .

In 1972 Uberto Zanolli founded the ENP Symphony Orchestra, which is currently directed by Luis Samuel Saloma.
