Eskil (bishop)
Saint Eskil († around 1080 or 1087 in Strängnäs ) was an English monk who was sent by Saint Siegfried (Sigfrid) of Växjö as a bishop to proselytize “in all of the Swedish north forests”. His bishopric was Tuna - today Eskilstuna . When he tried to prevent a pagan festival of sacrifice in Strängnäs, he was stoned. This is said to have happened around the year 1080, according to other sources around 1087.

His feast day is celebrated on June 12th.
