Essike

Essike is a deserted place near Brilon .

The place was about 1.7 km north of the parish of Östlingen , today's Madfeld . The forest district was also called Esseker Geholtz . Essike is mentioned several times together with Esbeke in the sources of the Busdorstift . In a possibly falsified document from 887, Emperor Karl III. the monastery Corvey property rights. A lady named Idike is mentioned in a note in my work's vita; she had transferred property in Essike to the Paderborn church. The property rights in Essike had previously been transferred to the noble Idike by a nobleman named Dietrich.
