The Estadio Lic. Eduardo Vasconcelos is mainly used for baseball games. The professional baseball team Guerreros de Oaxaca from the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol has played its home games in the stadium since 1996. Since it was founded in 1950, the stadium has also served as a venue for the local Universidad Autónoma Benito Juárez de Oaxaca .
In 2008 the stadium was extensively renovated and expanded by the architectural office BROISSINarchitects. Since then, the stadium is only one of three LMBs with artificial turf .
