The Estehof in Estebrugge, gable side with entrance

The Estehof is one of the oldest half-timbered houses in the Jork district of Estebrügge in northern Lower Saxony and was built in 1669 as a restaurant and office building with its own port. The ensemble, consisting of the main and cold store as well as the workshop, is located with its large garden directly on the Este and can be reached from Estebrügger Straße as well as from the river (river kilometer 5.55 left bank).

Building description

The Estehof is built in the Altländer half-timbered style and, depending on its function, it is always a home and workplace. While in the middle of the garden there was still a branch canal to the Este that could be navigated by freight ewer, construction of the building began in 1669. To the right of the "water passage" was the restaurant, to the left a "grocery store". The parts of the building were connected and have since formed the Estehof. Colorful carvings on the western half-timbered facade as well as the magnificent door on the este side, which comes from a kingdom farmhouse, characterize the gable ends. The building is under ensemble protection .

history

The owners of the estuary were, among others, the Winter family (from 1852 Jonny Jacob Winter, Mrs. Quast), then Otto Garms (until 1920) and the Quast brothers (1920 to 1935, Julius Quast). The Winters were the administrators of the nearby Esteburg until 1911. Later, the Altländer originals Werner Miehe and Uwe Fitschen ran the restaurant, which was known for its game specialties and its special atmosphere and also attracted Hamburg celebrities to Estebrugge. Operations had to be stopped in 2008.
