The US company Estes Industries (alias Estes-Cox Corporation), based in Penrose , Colorado , is a manufacturer of model rockets , model rocket kits , propellants and accessories for model rockets. Estes is one of the few suppliers on the market with its own propellant production.
Two special models from Estes are the Astrocam and the Oracle, which can be used to create aerial photographs.
The company was founded in 1958 by Vernon Estes. It was one of the first companies to manufacture ready-made propellants for model rockets, as there were repeated explosions in the 1950s with self-made propellants and the answer was the construction of model rockets, which is regulated according to a safety code.
The company was sold to the US group Hobbico in January 2010 .
