Etoumbi is a city in the province of Cuvette-Ouest in the northwest of the Republic of the Congo . The main source of income for the residents is hunting in the local forests. Etoumbi has seen four Ebola virus outbreaks recently , believed to be caused by local villagers eating dead animals from the forests. In 2003, 120 people died in an outbreak. In May 2005, the city was quarantined.
