Eugnathy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eugnathy (from ancient Greek εὖ (eu) "good, right" and γνάθος (gnáthos) "jaw") is the normal formation and function of the masticatory system , in which there is no developmental disorder.

A eugnathic dentition is a well-functioning and well-formed chewing system that shows no developmental disorders or other anomalies and the chewing force is evenly distributed over the jaw (the teeth are loaded vertically), provided that both jaws are also in a straight position ( orthognathy ).

The transition from eugnathia to dysgnathia is fluid.
